Jordan moved ahead on several healthcare priorities, building hospital infrastructure, expanding treatment options, tightening pharmaceutical oversight and scaling digital health services throughout the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Health added 577 hospital beds and lifted national bed capacity by roughly 10 percent, rehabilitating 49 health centers and constructing 14 new ones. King Abdullah II opened Princess Basma Hospital in Irbid, contributing 504 beds to the total.
Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II launched the Jerash Comprehensive Health Center along with the Jordan Digital Health Center in Salt District, which now handles remote dialysis, radiology and intensive care alongside telemedicine consultations.
Through the King Hussein Cancer Center’s Reaya program, Jordan secured comprehensive cancer treatment coverage for 4.1 million citizens. The Kingdom also moved forward with a Royal initiative to bring 2,000 sick and injured children from Gaza into Jordanian hospitals for care, with private facilities treating close to 700 children so far under the effort.
Private hospitals brought in robotic surgery, CAR-T cell therapy for blood cancers, liver transplants and AI-supported four-dimensional MRI scanning, building on Jordan’s standing as a regional hub for medical tourism, alongside natural attractions such as the Dead Sea.
The Jordan Food and Drug Administration tightened its regulatory approach by joining the Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme, backing pharmaceutical exports that climbed to JD729.3 million across 54 markets worldwide.
Meanwhile, the Hakeem digital health platform grew to cover 500 computerized facilities nationwide, and its My Hakeem app now handles medical records, appointment scheduling and round-the-clock support through its Shahm virtual assistant.
Jordan’s Cabinet also approved new nursing and midwifery specialization rules, a move aimed at growing the Kingdom’s pool of specialized healthcare professionals.
