Dr. Jamshid Zafar, Consultant Anesthesiologist at Clemenceau Medical Center Hospital, received the Outstanding Anesthesiologist of the Year 2026 Award at the Healthcare Innovator & Excellence Awards 2026. The event was held on August 2, 2026, at the Metropolitan Hotel, Dubai, and was presented by InsightsCare and powered by Insights Excellence Awards. Raza Siddiqui, Managing Partner of Arabian Life, Dubai, UAE, attended as Chief Guest. The award recognizes Dr. Zafar’s contribution to advancing anesthesiology practice and patient safety in Dubai.
Dr. Zafar, who hails from New Delhi, India, graduated in 2000 and completed his MD in Anesthesiology in 2006 from Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum. His career began at Delhi’s Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre, one of India’s leading cardiac centers at the time, before he moved to UCMS Medical College’s GTB Hospital in 2008. In 2009, he relocated to Dubai to join Rashid Hospital, where he practiced and grew professionally for the next 14 years.
During his tenure at Rashid Hospital, Dr. Zafar led several departmental initiatives, including a DHA-approved audit on peripheral nerve blocks, an IV lines audit, and the formulation of a departmental dashboard. He earned a diploma in Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anesthesia from the University of Montpellier, France, in 2014, and was promoted to Senior Specialist by the DHA in 2017. He also served as lead trainer for interns and ER and surgical residents rotating through anesthesia between 2011 and 2014, and as faculty for the Anesthesia residency program for Saudi and Arab boards from 2017 onward.
Dr. Zafar has played an instrumental role in shaping several DHA teaching initiatives, including Regional Anesthesia courses, Adult Sedation courses, and Difficult Airway courses, alongside frequent speaking engagements at conferences and journal clubs and his ongoing role as an ACLS instructor. After receiving his DHA Consultant License in 2022, he joined Clemenceau Medical Center Dubai in 2023, bringing his expertise and teaching background to the hospital’s surgical and perioperative care.
The Outstanding Anesthesiologist of the Year 2026 Award adds to the recognition Dr. Zafar has built through more than two decades in anesthesiology practice and education. It reflects the trust patients and institutions have placed in his clinical precision and his contribution to training the next generation of anesthesiologists in the region.
