Alantra Appoints Dr. Julian Feneley to Expand Healthcare Investment Banking

Background 

Alantra has strengthened its Healthcare Investment Banking team by appointing Dr. Julian Feneley as Managing Director in London. The appointment supports the firm’s plans to expand its healthcare advisory business across the UK and Europe while strengthening its cross-border investment banking capabilities. 

Dr. Feneley brings more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare sector. His background includes investment banking, senior leadership roles at healthcare companies and work as a medical doctor. He has advised clients across healthcare services, medical devices, healthcare technology, life sciences, laboratory services, healthcare distribution and pharmaceutical support services. 

He joins Alantra from Harris Williams, where he served as Managing Director and Head of Healthcare & Life Sciences Europe. Earlier in his career, he led healthcare and life sciences investment banking operations in Europe at Macquarie Group and Canaccord Genuity. He also began his investment banking career at J.P. Morgan in London. 

In his new role, Dr. Feneley will work with Alantra’s global healthcare specialists to support companies, entrepreneurs and financial sponsors on strategic advisory and investment banking transactions. The appointment also strengthens London’s position as one of the firm’s key investment banking centres. 

Alantra said the addition reflects its continued focus on building sector expertise and expanding its healthcare advisory services. The firm’s global healthcare team covers healthcare provider services, biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals, consumer health, medical technology, healthcare IT and life science tools. 

Over the past three years, Alantra has advised on more than 35 healthcare transactions with a combined value exceeding €3.1 billion. Recent deals include advisory roles for OrganiCare, Luxempart and Orphelia Pharma.
