Background

Uni Hospital in Panagyurishte, Bulgaria, has been successful in extending its Global Healthcare Accreditation for Medical Travel Services based on GHA Standards 5.2 for the second time.

It is an indication of the commitment that the Uni Hospital has shown towards providing safe and internationally coordinated healthcare services to foreign patients coming from different parts of Bulgaria and neighboring countries.

Global Healthcare Accreditation is a process that takes into account every single stage of the international patient journey, including pre-arrival information, treatment delivery, discharge procedures, and even post-treatment monitoring.

As part of the renewal, Uni Hospital underwent a comprehensive review of its international patient services, workflows, communication practices, and quality management processes.

Uni Hospital chief executive Rumyana Valkova said the accreditation process provided valuable insights that helped strengthen coordination, communication, and the overall patient experience for individuals traveling to the hospital from across Bulgaria and the wider region.

Global Healthcare Accreditation chief executive Renée-Marie Stephano said Uni Hospital demonstrated how strong clinical capabilities, advanced technology, and a patient experience focus could build trust with patients and partners across borders. She added that the accreditation strengthens the hospital’s visibility and readiness to support international growth.

Recognised as one of Bulgaria’s most advanced multi-profile private hospitals, Uni Hospital is also considered one of the country’s largest private healthcare investments in more than 30 years. The hospital provides specialized services in oncology, robotics, cardiology, orthopedic care, neurosurgery, among others.

The hospital makes use of VERSIUS, an artificial intelligence-assisted robotic device, thus positioning itself as a regional leader in robotic surgery.
