Background
Accenture has agreed to acquire Alfahealth, a subsidiary of Engineering Group, in a move set to strengthen the company’s healthcare capabilities in Italy.
The deal brings Accenture a service led digital health platform built for the Italian market, one designed to modernize clinical processes, connect data across the care continuum and improve patient access, experience and outcomes.
Alfahealth carries more than two decades of experience building and running technology systems that support patient journeys, spanning clinical workflows, diagnostics and administrative operations through what the company describes as a services plus product model.
The platform helps healthcare organisations share and manage data across services, supporting more connected models of care in line with Italian regulations.
According to Accenture, the acquisition aligns with its goal of integrating technology, data and services to drive business transformation, with Alfahealth gaining access to broader AI, cloud and cybersecurity capabilities.
Teodoro Lio, Market Unit Lead for Accenture in Italy, said the country stood at a pivotal point in transforming its healthcare system, driven by rising investment in digital health, interoperability and new models of care.
He said Alfahealth’s deep expertise and established relationships across Italy, combined with its ability to digitise clinical and administrative processes, would help providers speed up innovation and build more connected, data driven and personalized experiences for patients.
The acquisition brings around 1,200 specialized professionals into Accenture Italy’s Health practice, adding to a position the company already holds within Italy’s regulated healthcare sector, where it supports several national programmes.
Accenture did not disclose financial terms, and the deal remains subject to customary closing conditions. Accenture, listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker ACN, employs close to 786,000 people worldwide, serves around 9,000 clients and reported roughly $70 billion in revenue for its 2025 fiscal year.
