Background

DNV’s International Accreditation Standards for Hospitals (DIAS), Revision 26-0, have been given new accreditation by the ISQua External Evaluation Association, which extends accreditation through mid-2030.

The decision was taken by the ISQua EEA Award Committee during the last week of June. The accreditation is based on an independent evaluation of DNV’s DIAS standards against internationally recognized standards for developing, managing and assessing healthcare accreditation standards.

DNV is a global leader in healthcare accreditation, certification and assurance services, collaborating with healthcare organisations globally to improve performance, safety and quality. The company uses standards-based assessments and continuous improvement methods to help providers build robust quality management practices and achieve lasting performance gains.

Medication stands are a combination of the ISO 9001 quality management system and the standards used for healthcare accreditation. The standards are designed to address risks through a risk-based approach, which assists healthcare organisations to detect vulnerabilities early, manage operational variation, enhance governance and encourage continuous improvement. The framework establishes a connection between quality goals and leadership, planning, process management and performance evaluation in an organization.

DIAS is adopted across different countries as a structured approach to quality management, patient safety, clinical effectiveness and operational excellence in hospitals and healthcare organizations. Continued accreditation provides healthcare providers, regulators and policymakers with continued confidence that the standards meet internationally recognized accreditation principles.

Healthcare organisations require accreditation frameworks that are credible, transparent and recognised worldwide because of the complexity of the world in which they operate, said Alex Imperial, Global Managing Director of DNV Healthcare. The renewal demonstrates that DIAS remains up to international standards and supports organisations to improve patient safety, performance, and resilience, he added.

As per ISQua EEA requirements, the accreditation will be under continual monitoring and reporting during the cycle.
